  1. Find an established, reputable English speaking estate agent with offices in both Spain and the UK. Most reputable agents have offices in both Spain and the UK and offer a full support service before during and after you move into your new home.

  2. Make sure that you have a clear idea of what you want and what is Most important to you and discuss these requirements with your agent, the more he or she knows the better they will be able to assist you in finding your ideal property.

  3. Make sure your funds are available, properties in Spain sell out very quickly quite literally a property viewed in the morning is often sold in the afternoon. New developments usually sell before building even starts. It is essential that you have available the means to place a deposit and complete the purchase of your dream home within the time frames.

  4. Be aware of the extras not included in many of the 'window' prices of properties. Most reputable agents would suggest you calculate an extra 10% on top of the price of your home for taxes and legal expenses - typically these would be made up by follows.

    Be ready to decide when you find the right property - as we have already mentioned homes sell very quickly in Spain. If get the feeling you have found the right place for you then reserve it - some developers will allow our clients 24 hours on a property before putting a deposit down.
